Maybe what we regular folks need to do is police our media MUCH more doggedly.

So why is a @USATODAY reporter narrativizing so heavily on @Twitter, & in a way VERY likely to inflame tensions between police & communities in #Louisville KY & beyond? https://twitter.com/nataliealund/status/1266877181164089349?s=20

"I cannot believe what I just witnessed." FFS.

The failure to provide ANY relevant context here is appalling
OBVIOUS context questions:

1: What all went on in that area leading up to this? Any riotous activity?

2: We see uni'd officers arrive soon after. They appear to be about to sweep area. Are they?

3: If so, did they follow SOP? Did they repeatedly order crowd to disperse first?
4: If no dispersal orders were given, were there any exigent circumstances justifying deviation from SOP?

Those are the biggies, but cd come up w more if pressed.

Don't mean to pick on this reporter, but this kind of sloppiness cannot be tolerated. Stakes are FAR too high rn
This sloppiness feeds a hyperbolic unreal narrative of evil cops terrorizing communities, of America as a racist hellscape.

Folks worked way too hard over decades to improve police-community relations for this. Are all PDs & LEOs perfect? NO. But the wanton demonizing MUST STOP
To be clear, folks have a constitutional right to peaceably assemble & protest. It was hot outside & milk & water are for if folks get tear-gassed. Large groups are unpredictable & #RadLeft jerks pop up at these things & try to antagonize LEOs into aggression by hurling things
Innocent peaceful protesters sometimes get caught in fallout, unfortunately. Supplies are innocuous in themselves & it was still 1hr 20min before curfew.

OTOH, if there'd already been riotous activity in area & if officers had already directed folks to disperse, cd be justified
