Richmond Fire Department is saying that there is currently heavy fire at Rhoads Hall on VCU's Monro Park campus.

This is a large dormitory right across from Monroe Park on Franklin Street.

The loading dock is where the core of the fire is. Still unclear if the fire has extended into the building fully.

They are now searching floor 2 for fire extension. Responding units say that they are having trouble with approaching the building due to protestors.

Henrico crowd management is now in route to the scene to assist.

Crews confirmed that water is on the fire and the extent of the damage appears to be to the exterior of Rhoads Hall.

Crews say that there is no smoke on the first two floors of Rhoads Hall

Crews indicated after knocking the flames down that the fire only damaged the exterior of the building on the side of the loading dock
