As I stated before in my previous tweets, I live in a suburb of the Twin Cities. I'm here to provide a little update on what is happening here. This information is coming from my friends and family who directly live in Minneapolis and the "riot zone."

Despite what is being said around the world, it isn't all destruction here. There are non-instigating, non-violent people protesting in honor of George Floyd and calling for the degree of murder to be raised and the arrests of the other officers involved.

People have been non-violently protesting in different ways. There was news coverage today showcasing urban Natives honoring George Floyd and calling for justice through dance. I am a mixed Native person and I am very proud of my urban Native siblings for

- keeping the spirit of protest alive.

There have been many efforts to clean up the debris from the fires, brick-throwing, and breaking and entering.

Yesterday counties inside and outside (including my county) tried to implement curfews, but many were disobeyed and people still destroyed and took from large and small businesses, even those who are black and People of Color-owned despite owners specifically

- holding signs and yelling they were owned by People of Color. Many businesses (including in my county) were boarded up over night to prevent taking from them.

The National Guard has been deployed today and there have been arrests and an arrest of at least one journalist, Tom Aviles. Yesterday there were reporters who were arrested & Governor Walz specifically addressed is late last night's briefing.

There have also been media personnel who have been tear gassed (by who, I do not know; see tweets by @KSTP).

Roads into the city have been closed during the nighttime to avoid more instigation from outside sources.

Because of the National Guard's presence and further implemented curfews it's safe to assume there will be more arrests even though there are non-instigating, non-threatening protestors continuing on.

Now according to live feeds, the police have arrived.
