March begins in front of ICA toward Monroe Park. Cars honk and cheer as protestors say “Black Lives Matter”
After journeying through VCU campus, the march takes over both lanes of Belvidere

The march meets up with the police at W Broad with Laurel. Protestors punt an undercover car and throw a firecracker and water bottles

Most protestors yelled out not to, saying this is meant to be peaceful and tried stopping the few who went after the police car

Back where the march started at W Broad with Belvidere. One firework was thrown
“This is turning violent.” one protestor said, maintaining this is meant to be peaceful

Eggs, water bottles and more were thrown at two police SUVs. Police retreated and drove off
Three shots fired into the parking lot near the National. Crowd runs. Glass is broken on multiple storefronts
“Ive seen all I need to see” said one protestor.

Almost the entire crowd of protestors has scattered. Some are returning but it’s nowhere near what it was before the gun shots

Now passing N. 1st. Trash cans are being tossed over into the street. It’s gotten quieter and at maybe 30% of what it was
Boost Mobile next to Fatty Smokes was just broken into. Alarm is ringing and flares were thrown
Crowd has picked up momentum and at the Capitol. A few minutes before this, the crowd took up 2-3 blocks of E Broad
Half the crowd is either walking away onto e grace or are watching the barriers being thrown to Capitol Police
The Wells Fargo on E Grace has been destroyed. Surveillance camera taken. Front doors smashed in

People are now breaking the drive thru windows
Two helicopters whirl above as the march heads to Richmond Police headquarters

Tear gas (?) was just thrown into the crowd. Everyone ran
Milk is being poured into peoples eyes in the parking lot in front.

The smell is absolutely awful
This was taken shortly after. Crowd has gathered back again with their hands up saying “don’t shoot”
Tear gas thrown again. There was a firecracker that ignited right in front of the police barricade. Did not see where it came from

People are staying back and lingering on N Adams
Dumpster fire. Feels appropriate for how events have gone.

One protester said “we are not going to win. They’re ready for us. We’ll come back”
