i feel like you can’t just post George Floyd’s name and go, then call it anti-racism. to me, that is a non-racist act, it doesn’t make you not racist, nor does it make you anti-racism. to post once for a killing is for show. you have to educate yourself- here’s what I learned:
1. educate yourself in all aspects of racism- environmental racism, mass incarceration, education accessibility, learning environment suspensions at higher rates, accessibility to work & HIGH PAYING WORK, social racism, & MORE.
2. understand your privilege- this is not taking a look at yourself and saying I’m not black, I have more opportunities. this is an active activity that must occur at ALL times. I am not making this thread saying I know it all, or that I am represent anyone I’m just sharing
what I’ve learned.
3. DONATE- donate to BLM, donate to black owned businesses, purchase things from black owned businesses, etc.
4. Check up on your black friends. Check up on your BIPOC friends, surrounding events like these, surrounding other hate crimes, surrounding stressful times like COVID-19 which adversely affects BIPOC.
