As a journalist, I’ve been told repeatedly I have to keep any personal opinions I had off social media.

And I did.

But I had to check myself because as a white person, I’ve had the PRIVILEGE of staying “unbiased” and “neutral” on social media in a white dominated industry.

... unlike my black colleagues and friends, whose lives are quite literally affected every single day by these issues and other people’s’ “opinions.”

So I’m saying screw it to the cliche in every journalist’s bio. RTs are endorsements in a time when black people are being murdered and reporters are being shot at and arrested for doing their job.
