Sa DPWAS, magbibigay ang UP campus niyo ng list of available courses, then kayo pipili kung anong gusto niyong course doon.
After kasi ng UPCAT, may mga vacant slots sa iba& #39;t ibang courses, either dahil few ang demand sa courses na yun or mataas ang UPG na hinahanap nila at konti lang ang umabot.
DPWAS usually comes in 3 batch runs. Di ko lang alam ngayon kasi 5 years ago na yung last DPWAS experience ko haha. Sa first batch run konti lang ang list of available courses kasi yun din ang period of confirmation ng mga UPCAT passers sa respective courses nila.
Sa second batch run yung may pinakamarami dahil di naman lahat ng passers ay pipiliin ang UP so maraming slots na magiging vacant. Kung wala yung dream course mo sa first batch run, baka nandun na sa second batch run!
Medyo marami pa yung slots sa third (final) batch run compared sa first batch run, pero be careful kasi pag wala ka pang nakuhang course after three batch runs, sorry di ka makakapag-enroll sa UP.

Not sure kung binigyan kayo ng breakdown ng UPG niyo para sa DPWAS, pero sa panahon namin (2015), bawal naming malaman ang UPG namin dahil passer kami.
Anyway, knowing your UPG kasi gives you an advantage kung saang course ka makakapasok, because there& #39;s no assurance na kapag pinili mo yung isang course sa batch run ay automatic makakapasok ka na sa course na yun.
If ever naman may nakuha ka nang course pero di mo naman siya bet and may ibang courses na available na gusto mong i-try, you can take that risk, pero mawawala na yung kinuha mong course.

I think you have 3 courses to choose every batch run so after 1 batch run (kung wala ka pang course or di ka satisfied sa nakuha mo) may idea ka na kung saang course ka makukuha.
Tips sa pagparticipate sa DPWAS (a sub thread):
1. Enter the 1st batch run, even if konti lang mga courses doon and wala doon yung gusto mong course.
Kung napili ka sa isang course at least may pang backup ka na course, but you can still participate in the next batch run (if you want to). Entering the first batch run also gives you an idea kung saang courses ka makakapasok.
2. Choose a range of courses from various fields. Kung yung dream course mo, for example ay engineering, pumili ka rin ng science course and arts course. Huwag lang puro engineering courses or STEM courses.
Or pumili ka ng mga courses na sa tingin mo makakapasok ka doon, or sa tingin mo konti lang ang demand ng mga kukuha nun. At the same time, may idea ka sa kung anong UPG ka mataas.
Side story: pinupush ko kasi yung engineering courses kasi yun naman talaga gusto ko, kaya lahat ng choices ko puro engineering hanggang sa natapos na ang batch run, wala akong nakuha. Anyway, nakapasok naman ako sa communication course which is more of arts...
Side story part 2: After one sem I got my UPG and then I found out na math pala yung pinakamababa kong upg and di pa siya umaabot sa standards ng engg. Napansin ko rin na sobrang taas ng English and reading comprehension ko kaya mas bagay ako sa communication.
3. It would be best to settle after the second batch run. Pumasok ka lang sa third batch run (if merong ganun) if you want to take a risk, but most likely may course ka nang makukuha sa 2nd batch run.
4. If wala sa DPWAS ang dream course mo or di mo makuha yung dream course mo, find a relative course or course na pwede mong gamitin to shift (hehe).
For example, engineering yung course mo, pwede kang pumili ng mga courses with almost the same subjects (usually with chem, math, and physics subjects). Mas madali kang makakapagshift niyan.
(Technically) mahirap mag shift from arts to stem, pero madali pag arts to social sciences. Madali ring magshift from stem to arts/social sciences pero marami kang subjects na di makecredit (sad).

5. Siguro wag nang maarte sa pagpili ng courses? Haha andami ko kasing kilala nun (including myself) na maarte tapos di rin naman nakuha yung gusto niyang courses. Anyway, DPWAS is an opportunity for you to explore your range and widens your perspective sa magiging future mo.

Dagdag stuff pala: May mga nagsasabi sakin na ia-assign na raw sayo yung course instead na ikaw ang pipili ng available courses. If that& #39;s the case, I hope meron pa rin silang option to choose other courses.
But what matters most is may course ka! You can shift naman eh after a year, or baka ma-enjoy mo rin ang course mo!
Basta wag kang matakot, mawalan ng pag-asa or madismaya sa mga nangyari :)

Another additional stuff: Gawa kayo ng gc ng mga kasama niyo sa DPWAS para may support group kayo and instant college friends!!! HAHAHA
