so christian clergymen showed up to support the protests, which got twisted into the KKK being at chicago st in minneapolis, which then got twisted to the KKK being in chicago. i am BEGGING y’all: CHECK YOUR FUCKING SHIT BEFORE YOU POST IT. DOUBLE, TRIPLE, QUADRUPLE CHECK IT.
rumors like this cause more panic, which can result in injuries and deaths for protestors. i know you guys are well-intentioned but in times like these PLEASE BE CAREFUL. photo and video evidence first, but if that isn’t possible, confirm with multiple ppl on the ground
i understand mistakes happens. but what you say online can harm protestors and spiral out of control. KKK sightings are deadly serious and i don’t want there to be too many “boy who cried wolf” situations so that if something terrible ever happened, people wouldn’t believe it
finally found the tweet, as well as a similar situation in pittsburgh. i totally understand the confusion that could arise from this situation. but we need to be careful
