Thoughts on George Floyd’s murder. A thread.

Stop seeing black people as lesser. Black people & people of colour (regardless of whether white Irish people see it or not BECAUSE BLACK PEOPLE ARE NOT SHOT DAILY HERE) deserve better.

We, as white people, need to stand up for what is right. As a white person, I am hugely privileged. I don’t have anyone questioning me on my skin colour or seeing me as less or being frightened of me because of it.

There is NO EXCUSE for what has happened, and if it doesn’t make you sad and sick you are part of the problem.

I mean, they arrested a CNN reporter for reporting on riots because of George Floyd’s death before they arrested George Floyd’s murderer.

COME ON.

Black people, and people of colour, deserve so much better than what has been afforded them in America, Ireland and across the entire world. I want to do more and I will try.
