Why are people more upset at looting & the destruction of property & the blocking of roads than the murder of an innocent man!! & not just one murder, but countless murders throughout history that a racist system allowed to happen & will keep allowing to happen!

The black community has tried time & time again to protest peaceful but y’all weren’t having it! So now what are they supposed to do?? Just roll over & accept this treatment? Continue to allow their people to be murdered simply for being black?? No!!!

White people and non-black POC don’t get to tell the black community how they should be responding to the unjust murders of their people! Stop trying to justify racism by saying “the protesters are breaking the law!!”

I want to be a lawyer! I respect the law! But I also can’t help but wonder: what is the law even worth if it protects those who commit unjust, racist acts against the black community?

I’m not advocating for anarchy or an abandonment of law by any means. I just want change.

I want our racist systems & institutions to change. I want laws that don’t protect racists & white supremists & abusers. I am so tired & angry at everything I see on the news right now, but even still, this is not my reality. I could turn off the news whenever I want.

But the black community can’t because this is their life. This is their reality. I can’t imagine what it must be like living this reality every day. They don’t have the privilege to simply “turn it off” like many of us do. And if they can’t, then we shouldn’t either.

I don’t really know where I was going with this thread, I’m just angry & wanted to express my thoughts.

Also would like to point out that many peaceful protests are STILL being met by use of force by the police! How are the black community + allies supposed to protest these injustices if they’re still being harmed even when peaceful??

This is the racist system at work once again
