The reality is we need to cultivate empathy and anti-racism in our own communities. And if white folks are not willing to actively engage in that process, we will fail to see change.
If as white people we stop at merely expressing outrage, we fail. We risk becoming the well-meaning moderates Dr. King lamented in his letter from a Birmingham jail.

White people disgusted by racism and the continued, senseless annihilation of black bodies in America must be politically engaged against racism, vote against racism, and make concrete political demands to dismantle racism and systems that perpetuate it.

This is a moral choice.
