Why the Knicks should be looking to bring in offensive mastermind Chris Finch, a thread
First, a little background on Finch. Prior to coaching pro ball in the States for the last 10 years, he spent the first 12 years of his coaching career in Europe, becoming well versed in various offensive philosophies, as well as winning several trophies in Belgium and England.
In 2009-10, he started coaching the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the G-league, and led them to immediate success. They won the title in his first season there, and were the league's best offensive team. In his 2010-11, they lost in the finals, but remained a top 3 offense.
In 2011-12, Finch was promoted offensive assistant in Houston. Their ranks in off. rtg and pace when he was there:

11-12: 11th in pace, 12th in ORTG
12-13: 1st in pace, 6th in ORTG
13-14: 5th in pace, 4th in ORTG
14-15: 2nd in pace, 12th in ORTG
15-16: 7th in pace, 7th in ORTG
In 2016-17, Finch was hired by Denver and designed their offense around Nikola Jokic. Their rank while he was there:

16-17: 7th in pace, 4th in ORTG
Since the 2017-18, Finch has been the associate head coach for the Pelicans and was tasked with designing the offense around AD, and now Brandon Ingram and Zion. Their ranks:

2017-18: 1st in pace, 10th in ORTG
2018-19: 3rd in pace, 13th in ORTG
2019-20: 2nd in pace, 15th in ORTG
I feel it would be right to add Finch's teams' rankings in 3PT attempts per game to this thread since Knicks fans are obsessed with them

(HOU) 2011-12: 10th
2012-13: 2nd
2013-14: 1st
2014-15: 1st
2015-16: 2nd
(DEN) 2016-17: 8th
(NOLA) 2017-18: 18th
2018-19: 21st
2019-20: 6th
To conclude, I really want the Knicks to bring Finch on to their staff to design their offense. He has a track record of being able to design offenses around various types of personnel in the league, and has succeeded in doing so. I would want this even more if we brought in a
defensive minded coach like Thibs, or kept Mike Miller on. The modern NBA is a game of pace and space, and Finch has shown he could be the perfect guy to move the Knicks along from the stone ages of Bobby Portis and Taj Gibson post ups,
to high volume RJ Barrett and Mitchell Robinson pick and rolls.
