The GENOCIDAL maniac Gowon, NO ILLITRATE, after primary education in mission school, he went to govt college in Zaria, after, to special officers training school in Teshie Ghana, then to Eton Hall and The prestigious Sandhurst military academy in England, in 1962.....

he attended a course at the army staff college in Camberley England, in 1965 he returned to England for another course at JOINT SERVICE STAFF COLLEGE at lartimer, BUCKINGHAMSHIRE. He returned to Nigeria on 13th January 1966.......

Gowon rose to power, instead of restoring order within the polity nd unifying the Nation, adopted a SECTIONAL front.This precipitated to d harassment, looting nd massacre of Igbo men/women and children especially by northerners.

Just a Public statement by him calling for order would have calmed things but he didn't for OBVIOUS REASONS which you will see in this thread as you read further. Crisis worsened, so Igbos all over the Nation, for their safety returned to the only place they felt safe, IGBOLAND.

This resulted 2 d biggest humanitarian crisis of d time cos nearly 8 million Igbos were rendered homeless. Awolowo was the first person to raise alarm and expose the plans of Gowon, together with his Northern hawks to PUSH IGBO PEOPLE OUT OF NIGERIA AND RENDER THEM STATELESS...

which is the worst thing that will ever happen to any group of people. On the back of this, in March 1967, Awolowo made a public statement and I quote- "IF THE EASTERN REGION GETS PUSHED OUT OF THE FEDERATION, WESTERN NIGERIA WILL QUIT THE FEDERATION AS WELL"....

Bloodthirsty Gowon ignored these warnings and started off the process that PUSHED IGBO people out of the country which led to the declaration of the sovereign state of BIAFRA in 10th May 1967 leading to his INVASION of igboland under the guise of police action. They include:....

1- Igbo who did not make it home were made to register and Carry passes in places such as Lagos and other select part of Nigeria. 2- Food blockade and Economic blockade of Eastern Nigeria by land, air and sea on the orders of gowon

3- Gowons refusal to authorize the payment of EASTERN NIGERIA her lawful share of her statutory revenue totalling 12M pounds.

4- refusal of ojukwus appeal by Gowon for 8M pounds to solve the refugee/humanitarian crisis as a result of Igbos running back home.....

5- Companys in Easter Nigeria were on Gowons orders denied by Nigeria, access to facilities to service their undertakings.

6- Easterners on Nigerias employ that ran home for safety were denied their emoluments...

All these and not a word or reaction from igbo people....YET!

7- Withdrawal of Nigerias passports from people of Eastern Nigeria.

8- postal, telephone nd transport services between Nigeria nd Eastern region was stopped by Gowon.

9- declared state of emergency over eastern Nigeria.

10- Amidst all these sanctions Gowon was steadily collecting arms and training soldiers for an attack on Eastern Nigeria.

11- Gowon made a decree, dividing Eastern Nigeria into three states...Without due process and proper consultations and according to Nigerias setup at ......

This was unnaceptable, Igbo couldn't tolerate this last action by Gowon because it COMPLETES THE PUSHING OUT process and renders Igbos STATELESS thus prompting the declaration of Independence by Eastern Nigeria, PRESENTING ON A SILVER PLATE what Gowon has been longing for...
