Alright, I love Chromatica. It's now my favorite Gaga album. Even though I think Janelle Monae did this first and better. The ArchAndroid does the same thing but with a cohesive narrative with powerful and relevant undertones.
with **social justice undertones. Chromatica is written from Gaga's perspective as famous, white woman with mental illness, and casts her as a protagonist in her own world. With her gay fans, they can connect to the narrative with their own struggles for acceptance.
I only wish that she added more lore to Chromatica to make it its own Sci-Fi canon, which she might do on tour. ALSO, Coldplay's Mylo Xyloto (2011) uses the same concept as Janelle's Metropolis saga.
I think if the ArchAndroid was released today it would have performed better / gotten more acclaim. The Afrofuturist aesthetic and the narrative behind the album would also be more appreciated as Afrofuturism has been popularized by Black Panther and Lemonade.
ALSO, Janelle kind've did the same thing that she did with the ArchAndroid with Dirty Computer. And that got more attention than the former e.g. AOTY nomination. I'm also really glad that she got to make a short film for Dirty Computer.
LASTLY, over the course of writing this thread I've decided that Chromatica is too redundant production wise to be Gaga's best.
