Was out with the #BlackLivesMatter march in LA Fairfax district. Peaceful, respectful for hours.

Can’t fully comment on the turn but police showed up and things changed fast. 2 cars set on fire, rumors of tear gas, pops in distance. Helicopters circling, smoke billowing.

I’m safe, no need for concern. I’m just sharing my experience for whatever it’s worth.

I saw passion and I saw people uniting for a just cause. No one around me wanted this. They just wanted to show up and stand up.

Last detail: spirits were high but confusion spread when a blockade kept the march from entering Beverly Hills (some1 told me the permit didn’t extend to BH, is much harder to obtain). The march snaked back to Fairfax but started to splinter without clear direction. Then...
