Fam - I wrote this thread for white people ( https://twitter.com/SharonDoduaOtoo/status/1266838874275405833?s=20) but I thought really hard about whether I should. I have been reading so many hot takes on this website re colonial amnesia, street renaming, "reverse racism" & argh... even typing this makes me furious.

But. It also felt like there were genuinely many white people and non Black people of color who were looking for ways to be supportive right now, yet they did not want burden Black people further. And I guess I am in a good position to spread some knowledge.

So even though the thread linked above was addressed to non Black people, it was definitely written for the benefit of Black people & Black communities. It was written with you in mind. Please feel free to share it, if a non Black person asks you "what can I do?"

Just the same - I'll write another thread with Black people explicitly as the audience. Might take a day or two. When it's done, I will link to it in this thread. Until then enjoy a poem from đź‘‘Maya Angelou "Still I rise"
