Let’s retire the statement “pro-black is not anti-white” because it is useless and inaccurate. Race is a product of capitalism and the existence of whiteness is dependent on the subjugation of a racialised other. There is no way to separate whiteness from white supremacy.

Without the subjugation of blacks through a project of racial essentialism, “whiteness” as a category ceases to exist. “Whiteness” is not a biological reality but a description of class, ownership and property relations. Racial liberation is dependent on its destruction.

By saying “pro-black is not anti-white” you are not only prioritising the feelings of individual whites, but reifying biologically essentialist racial categories as valid, real and in need of protection, when they are in need of dismantling. You are servicing white supremacy.

I say whiteness describes a state of ownership & property relations because the category of “whiteness” shifts and has faced legal challenge as different ethnic groups (e.g. jewish people, slavic people) have been defined in and out of whiteness and the legal status it guarantees
