The last few days I’ve been doing a lot of reading on how white people like me can support the black community. I’ve been making donations, but didn’t speak up because I was worried my voice would dilute and distract from the voices who need to be heard. That’s where I was wrong.
My silence makes me complicit - it& #39;s glaring evidence of my white privilege and as bad as the people who actively hurt black communities. I have a LOT more work to do. We all do. Don’t expect your black friends to educate you, we should be educating ourselves.
Racism is as widespread as it is unacceptable, in all the forms it takes, but if you think the black community aren’t the hardest hit, you’re delusional. Donate to black activist organisations, and black cultural organisations to support and elevate. And REGISTER TO VOTE.
Charging that shitbag is nothing more than a flimsy plaster on a festering wound - we need to cut off the limb and cauterise it - not just in the US, or the UK, but everywhere. I have a lot more reading, and more work to do. #BlackLivesMatter https://abs.twimg.com/hashflags... draggable="false" alt="">
