Dear @amyklobuchar, @keithellison, and @MNCommerce, This is a story about @BCBSIL and how they are putting one of your (MN) residents in harm's way.

I am a multi-time cancer survivor. My body at this point, seems to get cancer yearly. I am seen at @MayoClinic.

(THREAD)
This bill has been pulled back from collection multiple times. I've begged and pleaded with both @BCBSIL and @MayoClinic to communicate more effectively so I don't go through this every month.

I had colorectal cancer surgery in September. Mayo submitted the bill.

(THREAD)
Month after month, BCBS denied the bill. First it was because we "didn't have an active policy." (We did.) Then it was, "disallowed." And finally, they refused to pay stating we didn't have insurance. (We did.)

But it gets worse.

(THREAD)
I can't get my follow-up scans, (which are overdue and desperately needed) because my $15k bill shows outstanding.

Keep in mind, our max. out of pocket with @BCBSIL is $4.5k as a family. We already hit that prior.

(THREAD)
So, right now, in America, my insurance is refusing to pay my cancer bills. @MayoClinic is making me jump through crazy hoops to get it resubmitted (AGAIN for the fourth time) and I am without care.

(THREAD)
I am exhausted. (Truly) of going through this. I have been on the phone with @BCBSIL for HOURS upon HOURS. I have tried everything in my playbook to get this done so I can get care.

Help.
And I wonder- if this is the newest tactic to prevent me from accessing the care I pay for. If insurance won't pay, do you think a reasonable person has $15k to pay this bill to get MORE bills from MORE care?

No, of course they don't. This. Is. Criminal.
