Hey folks! Are you interested in working to dismantle personal & systematic racism? Don't just "google it" (seriously, you can get a lot of junk) but look for curated sites & lists. Make sure you're drawing from good source material.
This list has a bunch: http://bit.ly/ANTIRACISMRESOURCES
The above list is mostly anti-black racism, some things abt systematic racism apply to the way we treat all out-groups, but it it's not 1:1. Indigenous peoples, AAPI, immigrants, latinx, bi-racial folks, ect. all have specific facets that deserve add'l study if you're serious.
please DO NOT BINGE these resources. It's of utmost importance that you take your time when doing personal improvement like this. This isn't a competition. Give everything time to sink in, process. Don't ignore your resistant feelings: study them, interrogate them, v important.
In this process you are taking in information that contradicts what you've been taught your entire life. You are challenging your own reality. That is heavy & deserves patience. Brushing off feelings like rage, guilt, etc. will come back to bite you. You must work through them.
I like to think of it, not in violent terms like "cutting out" your racism, or "breaking" it, but as an untangling & restoration of what you should be. Something of worth has been twisted & damaged, and takes time & care to repair & untangle.
Also, this is work YOU must do. Give up the urge to seek gratification from your non-white friends for this, that's just more taking, more trying to sooth your ego rather than challenge it. Your gratification is in becoming someone ppl feel safer around, who makes things better.
Thank you to Sarah Sophie Flicker & Alyssa Klein for compiling the list.

I may try to follow with some resources of my own. I'll post them to this thread as I decide on them.
