i haven’t known what to say while watching everything that has happened this week in America. i’ve been trying to educate myself on what’s going on but i’ll never truly be able to understand what minorities go through because i do have white privilege. and while i may not have https://twitter.com/coachderekmason/status/1266757870709886977
a full understanding, i do have compassion for everyone and i hope that everything that is going on can not only bring justice for george floyd, but justice and equality for every black person and POC that has experienced racism in their lifetime. i’ve been reading articles and
signing petitions as they’ve come up on my twitter all week but i hope i can do more in the future in order to be a small piece in achieving equality for everyone. the thread of derek mason’s that i quoted at the beginning of this thread is so well written and really helped me
to know that i’m not the only one that feels like they don’t have the right words to say about everything that is happening. and while i may not understand, i will stand along with everyone that’s fighting for their human rights because it’s truly what every single person
deserves to have. i hope everyone that is out in nashville for the rally today stays safe and that mayor cooper listens to what people have to say in order to make our city a place for everybody, regardless of race. it will make our city and country a better place in the end if
our leadership can listen to those that have had different experiences than them and make an effort to bring about change because the culture of racism that has been apart of America for years should’ve been eliminated decades ago and it’s absolutely sickening that is hasn’t.
