THREAD (stream of consciousness, not on mobile, so this is some serious thoughts)

As I find my city burning, and the pain and grief on display, I find my self in a strange and confusing pattern of thoughts. What happened to #GeorgeFloyd was an UNFORGIVABLE act of police 1/?
brutality. He was MURDERED, that is without question, and those who say otherwise have no business being involved. And this all started as a protest to DEMAND his murder and those 3 cops who facilitated it be arrested and charged. It started as a protest to DEMAND 2/?
an end to the impunity of cops killing black people in america. To DEMAND real, MEANINGFUL change to a system that crushes black people in america into the dirt. It started to MOURN the loss of a man who did not deserve to die. As a white person, I need to support 3/?
the voices of the unheard as they cry in pain and lash out at a system that has done nothing but further prove it needs to be dismantled if true equality and justice is to be found. As a Minnesotan I see my city burn and feel the fear of my family and friends not on the 4/?
streets, being scared that their home could be burned, their pets or children hurt or killed by provocateurs who come here out of state to simply raise hell and destroy. I see white supremacists getting involved hoping to start a race war. As an #LGBTQ Trans woman 5/?
I look around and see viscerally the walls of fascist america and the Trumpladites working to outlaw my existence and I cant help but feel even more strongly with my African american brothers and sisters as they tear at the roots of society in a fed up rage, because 6/?
I know if given the chance, the current administration and culture of hate would come for me next and I see where Myself and other minorities (of all kinds) could be if this slide into fascism is allowed to become complete. I see the inequality of the 1% versus the rest of us 7/?
And while know there are those destroying anything they can because they can, I see the general uprising around country and I become torn. I say again THIS SHOULD BE ABOUT #GeorgeFloyd being MURDERED and the continued murder of black americans. But I understand 8/?
That for a lot of people, this has become something much MUCH MORE than what it should be about. I am torn because the rot in the systems that had no direct touch on this situation need to be tore out too. As a society we cheer on #HongKongProtests which started from a 9/?
piece of shit legislation attempt, and has since become about every injustice they face as an oppressed society. We the see the roots of that starting to grow across the country as more protests and riots spring up by the day. I am reminded that many of the greatest leaps 10/?
In progress in human history have started due to riots (Boston Tea Party, The stone wall riots, the french revolution, the list goes on) but i am also scared. Scared and heartbroken for those who never did harm and tried their best to be good people getting caught in the 11/?
crossfire, they did not ask to have their homes burned down, their city destroyed. I DONT KNOW what the way forward should be, and I go back and forth on the destruction that is occurring. All I DO KNOW is that #GeorgeFloyd was murdered and the system that supports that, 12/?
needs to be stripped bare and rebuilt before it can resume its march toward further tyranny. All I can ask, is if you have to destroy things to be heard, consider what it is you're destroying and how its destruction can amplify the need to listen to the oppressed. 13/?
The 3rd precinct being taken over, fireworks and celebration preceding it being set ablaze, and the resulting husk send a powerful message that the cops are not untouchable and need to consider that they will no longer be allowed to do as they please. Burning down 14/?
affordable housing projects and places where people live, or small community businesses is not helping the message. Sure news reels of cities on fire as a whole, at first glance seems like a good thing, but if the wrong shit is burning, that veneer of legitimacy is stripped 15/?
away and the message gets lost in unfocused and needless violence, which can in turn be used to justify further oppression. We are walking a fine line between justice for #GeorgeFloyd , Justice and equality for African Americans, Justice for the countless wounds against 16/?
every non straight, non white, or non cis male the last 4 years, as well as every single day from the founding of this nation, and simply burning shit to the ground for the hell of it. WE NEED to stay on the right side of that line. I acknowledge that i am 17/?
extremely privileged to be in a position where i cannot be directly involved, I WILL lose my job, and i cant afford that., given how hard it can be for #LGBTQ people like me to stay employed ( I know i have been lucky to not have that issue) I donate privately 17/?
and anonymously, and if knew i would not be arrested I'd be documenting everything I can for posterity because that is all I can do. But on the other hand I see the spark of something more here if we can, as a movement, prune those only here for anarchy, and move forward as 18/?
one solid and unmovable mass, determined to push equality and justice forward and rip it from the hands of the oppressors and deliver it to all of those oppressed, but this is first and foremost for all the black people in this country who are done kneeling politely asking. 19/?
And for #GeorgeFloyd . #BlackLivesMatter #riots2020 #Minnesotariots I am just about done spitting out these thoughts rumbling around in my head since wednesday. but I want to leave it with this, the music video for Land of confusion by disturbed. A video i keep 20/?
Coming back to today as I look around and see all the good the ugliness of what is happening and hoping that on the other side is a world that is better, and brighter. It wont bring back those like George, but i hope it will be a world with out any more cases like his. 21/22
