The problem with "outside agitators" is their enmity to the movement / lack of responsibility to the movement--not escalation or destruction itself
Stop retreating back to the idea that only soft, march-type protests are legitimate ffs
The accurate, productive narrative that needs to replace the idea of "outside agitator" third-party escalation is *police escalation*

The primary escalators in MSP and most of these other cities were the police, who early in evenings chose to both ramp up force & sow confusion
Dont get me wrong:
-if possible, it is strategically valuable to expose a police false-flag during massive anti-police mvmt
-it is productive to bring would be allies back in line if they're causing undue risk to black ppl
- it is necessary to identify & expose far right ops
What is NOT strategic, productive, or necessary is reinscribing the idea that destruction = bad / not part of protest,
and retconning all destruction to be the work of inauthentic protesters rather than an extension of the community's legitimate and long-building fury
Again the Wet'suwet'en solidarity occupations are instructive
-Wht allies called to form a barrier between Indigenous ppl & police, & to rally &build size
-Wht ppl called back in line when they selfishly escalate too far
-Suspicious new ppl checked into, & talked to by emissaries
Also the Wet'suwet'en solidarity actions were also at times accused mostly by cynical bad actors and conservatives of being mostly white, or driven by white enviros latching on

This showed both that they weren't paying attention & that they have no understanding of solidarity
This is part of it too: they want to frame it as if only gatherings of the aggrieved minority group are legitimate in part bc that group *is a minority* and can only do so much without allegiance & reinforcements https://twitter.com/BuyErasers/status/1266779563759226880
