I find it hilarious that people think Japan is some apolitical wonderland where no one has a single opinion. Yes, Japanese society does have a tendency to fall into political apathy and complacency, but people in Japan are not these apolitical drones who only produce anime.
Have any of these people played a Persona game, most FF games, TWEWY, NieR, Ace Attorney, Ace Combat, Metal Gear Solid and the hundreds of other examples of games in Japan with political overtones, some overt and not at all subtle?
And yes, I completely get where people are coming from when they say that the way Western artists and Japanese artists deal with issues on Twitter is different. Different societies, different way of handling issues.
This thread isn't saying "Japan is [X] political ideology." The point is that Japan is not this apolitical wonderland where people don't care about any issue. Far from it, in many ways.
