Last Thursday the US had a historic moment, Chile had a similar moment in 2019. The events are not directly connected but follow a similar 8 step script:
1. Once people are in the streets, we will see increasing images of ...
of both vandalism and police violence. (Happening)
2. The right will dismiss the people on the streets as professionally organized external actors (happened)
3. The increasing use of tear gas and rubber bullets would become a heated discussion. (Starting)
4. Police reform will become “the” topic (to happen).
5. Some city locations will become recurrent grounds of confrontation (not yet happened in the US).
6. People will demand authorities to take sides & condemn either police violence or riots (not protests). (Starting)
7. The president will adress the nation many times without condemning or mentioning police violence, increasing the anger of a vast population (forthcoming).
8. Unemployment will keep people on the streets more than the government originally anticipated. (To see if it happens).
9. What’s next?
