Over the past few days I have struggled over how to express my thoughts on the George Floyd situation and systemic racism (especially through tweets), but as a black person in the Dubstep scene I feel like I have to at least say something. Here& #39;s a thread of various thoughts:
1. Systemic racism is absolutely a thing.
I personally am fortunate to not have experienced much racism in my own life, but when I see more and more people that look like me being beaten and killed by police for nothing, I cannot fail to acknowledge that it is a large issue.

2. The police system is corrupt, but not all police are evil.
I have seen a growing sentiment on twitter to hate all cops, but I this is very wrong. They need to stay accountable to each other, but there are many who properly fulfill their duty to serve and protect all people.

3. Destroying property in riots is not the answer.
In a world where some police view black people as savages and inferior humans, destroying the property of unrelated businesses and corporations only reinforces that view and I don& #39;t believe helps the cause.

4. White Americans have the potential to be a huge helping force.
If our governments and systems see people supporting each other and standing up for racial injustices even when their own race isn& #39;t being affected, they will eventually change to "please the people".

5. Having different races and cultures is a beautiful thing.
On Twitter it seems like people want to "not see color" and view all people as the same, but that takes the beauty out of having different backgrounds. The trick is to not let prejudices into one& #39;s view of others.

6. HATING WHITE PEOPLE IS NOT THE SOLUTION.
The vast majority of white people are not racist and hate to see what is going on in the world. It can be hard not to generalize the attitudes we see in these situations to all white people, but doing so just creates another prejudice.

7. Speaking up is helpful, but don& #39;t demonize people who don& #39;t.
I am in an odd situation. I am black, but have never had a negative interaction with a police officer and have experienced racism very little. This makes it hard to think through and I bet many others feel the same.

8. Fight for justice, but don& #39;t expect it to come quickly.
We live in a broken world and there will be problems. Our job is to work through them, but it& #39;s a process. There will be a day where Jesus comes back and makes all things right, but until then we must keep fighting.

That& #39;s about all I have to say for now. Feel free to ask any clarifying questions since I know twitter loves to take things out of context and spin them to whatever they want them to mean. Make it a dialogue, not an attack.
I love you all and love seeing this world get better.
