look i love that show but the only way it works is to watch it as if it’s set in an alternate universe

allowing cop shows to occupy the same space as comedic office based sitcoms allows us to ignore the inherent violence in their jobs. pathologising police as heroes who bumble their way through life is directly related to how people view them irl. there are no good cops.
