Protestors are back outside the Orlando-area home of former Minneapolis cop Derek Chauvin, who’s been arrested in the killing of #GeorgeFloyd.

Today, @OrangeCoSheriff deputies & vehicles are in front of the home & barriers surround the street. Demonstrators are across the street
It feels different out here today, with @OrangeCoSheriff deputies on one side of the street and protestors on the other.
Domojstratirs have been yelling, “Enough is Enough” “Say their names” “I can’t breathe” and “No justice, no peace, prosecute police”
#GeorgeFloyd
“When black lives are under attack, what do we do? Stand up fight back!” they yell.
About 70 people are out here now, with more continuing to come. #GeorgeFloyd
Way more signs out here today, people definitely came more prepared. #GeorgeFloyd protests in #Orlando
A table set up by local organizers for @Dreamdefenders, giving out water, masks, collecting people’s names/numbers.

We’re trying to “move people from protesting... to a little bit more direct action,” said Marissa Echeverria, a leader of the group (center)
“What if it was your brother? Your sister? Your father?”
This chant has been going on for a long time. #GeorgeFloyd
Ana Roche screams to the crowd about the president’s recent tweet that seemed to threaten shooting to protestors or looters.
It starts a “Not my President” chant.
Here Roche, 23, yells for the crowd to get loud.

“We need to be united at this time,” she told me. She started to say that “we the people” should mean everyone, then yells it to the crowd, and a new chant starts.
Demonstrators have now filled the street, and a few are encouraging people to walk into the street, fill it (many had been on sidewalks).

The street has been blocked off to traffic already by @OrangeCoSheriff
Protestors seem to be directing their chants now at a man on his front porch, about 6 doors from the Chauvin home, who is out cleaning his deck wearing a “Keep America Great” Trump hat. He has headphones in and doesn’t appear to pay any mind.
“Say his name,” they chant.
The protest here has turned into testimonials, listening to people tell their stories and give their testimony.

People say they are tired, people thank everyone for coming out, people yell that black lives matter. #GeorgeFloyd
Justin Tucker, 22, says he’s out to here to call for justice.
He starts a new chant, calling for freedom and away w racist cops. Listen yourself.
Best friends Ashley Cannon-Rhea (right) and Bailey Barrett talk about an incident with police in Kissimmee where they felt Barrett was treated unequally.
Barrett said, “This needs to end.”
Again, @EBRSheriff candidate @MrDarling4 showed up to the protest, with his daughter who spoke to the crowd about racism in Windermere. She’s 18 and just graduated from Windermere High. #GeorgeFloyd
And very quickly, the demonstrators head down the road, calling for people to meet in downtown Orlando to continue the protests at Lake Eola.

They walk down the street then start getting in cars. People hold signs out their cars as they head out of the neighborhood.
My colleague @monivettec is already in downtown, where more protestors have been at Pulse nightclub, and are moving up Orange Ave toward downtown. https://twitter.com/monivettec/status/1266794061647708161?s=21 https://twitter.com/monivettec/status/1266794061647708161
These people MOVE. Save a few people cleaning up, the street that’s been full of protestors for two days is almost empty. More deputies here now than protestors.
#GeorgeFloyd
I’m now at the Orange County courthouse in downtown Orlando, where hundreds are gathered.
Tensions feel higher here.
@OrlandoPolice are here, and keep backing up as people move towards them. #GeorgeFloyd
I walked here with West Orange High rising senior Yania Baber, (left) it’s her first time out to protest but she said “enough is enough.”
Roommates Jessica Langdale and Lacy Jones bought cases of water to give out as people protest. They also have a first aid kit.
“I can’t begin to understand what ... black men’s and women are going through everyday,” Langdale (right) said. But she wanted to show support.
Protestors are moving down Orange Ave again. Stopped right now near E Washington St. Most are facing some bike cops, they were yelling “hands up, don’t shoot”
The group seemed to split, one half headed back toward Colonial (video shows them) and the other to City Hall. There are a LOT of people out, I can’t really estimate now how many. #GeorgeFloyd
Just saw the first arrest and first violence at #Orlando #GeorgeFloyd protests.
I didn’t see what started it but this is at Colonial and Orange. The man was fighting with an officer, and then 3 cops took him into custody.
Here’s a photo of the arrest. I just spoke with 2 groups walking toward Colomial who praised the @OrlandoPolice cops for working with protestors.
Nothing else has escalated further so far, some yelled more at cops, there’s a line drawn.
I walked here with Matthew Xavier Smith (right) and Benny Williams. They were glad to see so many people out AND how the cops were working with them to block off streets.
“They’re letting us have our space,” Smith, 20, said.
As a few yell at police, one woman yells, “Peaceful!”
Most are intent on keeping the peace in Orlando as they protest #GeorgeFloyd
They head down Colonial toward I-4. It looks like @OrlandoPolice are letting them go up the ramp to I-4.
Ok I was wrong. @OrlandoPolice are blocking off I-4 ramp. Protestors turned onto Garland Ave into full traffic. Many honk along.
Ok take two trying to go onto I-4. They’re on the ramp after Amelia Street up time I-4.
Orlando Police officers are carrying gas masks. #GeorgeFloyd
. @OrlandoPolice have made a line at the top of the ramp. Protestors are stopped but keep jumping up onto the interstate. #GeorgeFloyd
Unclear what the game plan is here, protestors are stopped here.
Some people started jumping down off I-4. Many stand right up at the line of police. #GeorgeFloyd
“Your silence is compliance,” protestors chant.
They’ve come down off the ramp. A few are really shaken up after they said cops had hands on guns, gas masks on their heads.
Walking south on Hughey Ave now.
Ashley Robinson and her fiancé jumped up on I-4, but said the cops stopped the group because they were outnumbered. She’s not deterred.
“It’s been powerful,” she said. “I hope when my son grows up he doesn’t have to do this.” #GeorgeFloyd
This protest is not for the faint of heart y’all. And people are still fired up. #GeorgeFloyd #Orlando
If anyone is trying to follow this crowd, good luck. We’re now on Pine Street headed back toward downtown.
Walking down Orange toward Anderson. Looks like they’re going to turn on Anderson.
Group is spreading out, getting smaller (it seems)
And headed back up toward I-4 again. On Anderson now
Ok crossing over I-4 now. And while spread out, there are still hundreds here. “No justice, no peace.”
Many are stopping to hold signs up to I-4. People honk.
People driving under honk, raise their arms out the window, a woman cheers out the sunroof. They’re stopped at this overpass. #GeorgeFloyd
People stop and get out their cars, stand on them as protestors look down. They cheer, they chant.
#Orlando #GeorgeFloyd
Joshua Brown, 28, screams out chants for at least a minute until his face is dripping with sweat, his voice coarse.
“I’m an innocent man but I get treated like a criminal,” he said. “When I saw the video of George Floyd, I cried.”
He said he never cries.
They’ve been out for at least 3 hours (most more) but this is the energy.
Brown said his pain is what brought him out. “It hurts,” he said, hurts when cops pull him over and assume he’s been to jail before. He hasn’t.
Stopped at @OrlandoPolice now. At least 300 here (but I’m bad at estimating). Many cops wearing helmet with shield and gas masks ready, but many not. #GeorgeFloyd
Energy is high at @OrlandoPolice HQ.
. @OrlandoPolice chief @OrlandoPDChief Rolon is out here (middle)
“Hands up, don’t shoot,” people are yelling.
“I can’t breathe,” they shout.
“You are killing us,” one woman yells at police surrounding @OrlandoPolice headquarters. Others say, “Say his name,” and “black lives matter.”

Also we keep hearing thunder.
#GeorgeFloyd protest in #Orlando at city police hq

Flag says: STOP KILLING US
On the move again, majority of group is headed back down OBT. People yelling at cops as they leave. One woman has milk ready.
Headed up to the 408. @EBRSheriff bike officers are here too, the large group has made it up the on ramp.
They’ve made it on both sides of the 408, cops are trying to keep people back but they keep moving. Some cops threatened pepper spray, not sure if they used it. #GeorgeFloyd
Traffic stopped both ways on the 408 at OBT for protestors, @OrlandoPolice is telling people to get off.
“This is the Orlando Police Dept, you need to get off the 408,” announcers say.
People say they aren’t moving. At least 3 water bottles have been thrown by the crowd at cops, people scatter after that. Most stay. Cops haven’t responded.
. @OrlandoPolice just threatened arrest if people don’t get off the 408. Protestors have locked arms across it #Orlando
“Say his name, George Floyd”
Officers have put on gas masks.
Tear gas is in the air. People are running.
Police keep throwing tear gas, people throw it back at them. People are yelling, running.
She can’t see.
It started pouring, crowd went everywhere. More later. It’s pouring.
People can’t see
I’m home now, the rain seemed to disperse most #GeorgeFloyd protesters in Orlando, which came after the tear gas.

It was a long day. Overall, protestors & police were peaceful. OPD kept moving with demonstrators to block traffic.

Most people just wanted to show up & be heard.
Going thru my footage from today, and still taken aback by this view of the 408, completely filled with demonstrators. Protesters stopped traffic both ways, until tear gas from @OrlandoPolice dispersed them.
#GeorgeFloyd
