Before the Lord pronounces the consequence of guilt to the first couple-before Adam has so much as suffered the pain of a stubbed toe, the Lord places all suffering w/in the framework of One coming from the seed of the woman who will conquer sin & death as the Bruised Heel. 2/5
If we are to understand human suffering we must never see it in the context of our own pain. This is not the Father’s perspective. The orbit of suffering from the Father’s view centers around the suffering of the Son. (3/5)
The Bruised Heel in Genesis 3 is brought into focus BEFORE the pronouncement of Eve’s travail in childbirth, BEFORE the mention of Adam’s toil in the land. The suffering of the Son is preeminent in the Father’s mind. He is most concerned with what man’s sin will cost the Son. 4/5
Though significant, man’s pain is secondary. This challenges us to shift our focus from our suffering to His, to fix our attention on the passion of the cross...We will never share in the empathy of another’s pain until we share in the fellowship of His sufferings"-Phil 3:10. 5/5
