. @chicagosmayor and @Chicago_Police Supt Brown reiterate that their number one priority is the safety and health of all residents, including protestors and police officers who are working together to ensure voices are heard across this city following the death of George Floyd.
This weekend, multiple protests, marches and rallies are expected in Chicago's downtown area. Due to anticipated congestion in the area, the City is advising motorists to take alternate routes or consider public transportation.
The Chicago Police Department will continue to work with rally organizers to provide the safest routes for marches and to ensure the protests remain peaceful.
In preparation for today's events, parking will be restricted from Chicago to Congress and Lake Shore to Wells. Any vehicles relocated as a result of parking restrictions can be retrieved without charge at a lot located at 1802 S. Lake Shore Drive.
