When I was young, my mom told me a story about how the City of Atlanta claimed eminent domain to force my grandparents out of their home in Downtown Atlanta to build what I believe is now a park. My Grandma never really got over the hurt of having to move out of her home.
My Dad used to tell me stories of his struggles with racism in Jim Crow era Atlanta, and how that made him deeply distrust white people.
Those stories aren’t that old. The reason why the names of streets change from Monroe to Boulevard or Highland to Moreland is because white people didn’t want to live on the same street as Blacks. The creation of I-20 is said to have gutted Black neighborhoods throughout the city
These things are still happening. When the City of Atlanta sells land to developers who “clean up” the neighborhood and force Black people out to the suburbs whilst not providing adequate transportation for them...for US...to make it to inner city jobs that often have low wages.
Atlanta has to atone for that shit.

And you wonder why shit has boiled over. It ain’t about one single person. This is about a system that has ALWAYS disenfranchised Black voices who couldn’t afford to be heard.
DON’T SAY SHIT TO ME about what protestors should or shouldn’t do when the history of Blacks in America is rotten to its core.
