A thread.

I want to put this out there for other influencers who are hesitant to talk about what is going on in the world right now. Its something that I've learned, but also need to do better at.
We have so many incredible people that support us from everywhere in the world. Our platforms represent not just you or I, but every single person that has ever believed in us.
The generic thing that most influencers want their social media platforms to be is "positive" and "a place to make others feel happy." I think those are great intentions to have, but recent situations really put those words to the test.
When the people who support you need your help, what will you do? I know the internet is scary, and I know that you always want to keep your platforms a "positive place," but you also need to speak on behalf of the many people who have given you their trust and strength.
If you are a good person, your followers will be good people. If you are scared to post about supporting a minority group and losing followers, you don't want them anyways. Say and do what is right, and you will attract the right people.
What happened recently has made me understand that I will never fully be able to comprehend what the Black community is going through, but it has made me realize that change needs to happen now more than ever, and that we can help (even in small ways) to do so.
To my influencer friends, educate and show people why they should try to help instead of giving them an ultimatum. Some people simply need to be reminded that its ok to support a just cause even though it may spark debate and confrontation with people on the internet.
Don't assume that because people aren't as vocal as you means they are against you. Instead, show them why they need to fight to make changes.
There is a lot I need to improve on towards being more outspoken about these issues, and I think its only fair that we all try to support those who can't be heard even more.
A hashtag, or a post like this may not revolutionize the world, but its a small start to becoming more involved with putting your words into existence, and inspiring others to do the same.
