/ The HSE however created the two tier system by charging some patients to use the health system they had already paid for. 16% of all admissions are private in public hospitals and thus paying twice.
The HSE and DoH encourages and feels very dependent on this two tier system...
/ The HSE gives priority for admission, investigations and treatment to private patients in public hospitals. They do jump the queue however much the HSE and others say the do not. This is the two tier system. This is what must change if you want a one tier system. Focus on this
/ I am surprised and disappointed at certain media, journalists, politicians and doctors with hangups who do not want to see and act on these facts. Private hospitals have nothing to do with a "two tier system". They deflect attention from HSE +Doh failure.. @thejournal_ie
/ Private hospitals only exist because the HSE and DOH are inept at providing a fully functioning health service. Just look at how the private hospitals ground to a halt when as the HSE took them over in this COVID crisis. HSE did not even talk with the doctors working there.
/ The HSE took the private hospitals but gave zero care for all of those using the hospitals beforehand. The HSE then increased the two tier system in public hospitals by only allowing private patients go to main HSE hospitals. Why,? #CancelTheContract @FergalBowers @HSELive
/ we already have a universal single tier healthcare system. It just that the @HSELive and DoH @roinnslainte cannot manage it effectively. If it was well run there would be no need for private insurance and private hospitals would just disappear @alisonoconn #CancelTheContract
/ i would love to see a high quality single tier healthcare system free to all people. We have to be careful what we wish for. Sláintecare (even the name is a mish mash) is meant to do this. It is claimed this will cost up to 1 billion per year. This however is fantasy...
/ government spends 14 billion per year on providing a very inadequate service for less than half of the population. It would cost an extra 14 billion to give the same poor service to everyone. With present ideology, what is the cost for free and good care for all?
