Hi @EngenderScot, I have a few questions about these jobs. They all seem women focused: engaging with women members and communicating feminist information, advocating for women's equality to Scotgov, and working towards women's equality in the media... https://twitter.com/EngenderScot/status/1265273112788008964
Why then have you opened up these positions to men? That seems rather odd for a feminist organisation. Is there a reason why you have chosen not to apply the Occupational Requirements in Schedule 9 of the Equality Act in order to protect these positions for women?
Applicants have the choice of selecting between two mixed-sex categories or 'other'. Adults are either women or men: self-selecting entry into the opposite category is neither biologically possible, or indeed UK law. Can you please explain what you mean by the 'other' category?
You collect info on the other protected characteristics, age, race, disability, etc. Is there a reason why you fail to capture accurate data on sex? Are you not legally obliged to collect this info? Why would a feminist org not see it important to collect vital data on women?
Moving on to the next question: Are you trans? Yes, no or Other
This doesn't make any sense! Surely we can at least agree a yes/no question is binary. What on earth do you think is covered by the 'other' option here?
This whole situation is nonsensical. You have tied yourself up in knots trying to be all things to all people and if your successful applicant is an agender non-binary demi romantic man then I hope you will be very happy together. What you will not be, is a feminist organisation.
