Some tips I can think of for when your #shielding colleagues return to work please bear in mind issues like that below. Last time I was in a shop was March 15th. Not participated in the outside world properly since then!

1. Please adhere to social distancing at work!
2. Recognise that things may have been unbelievably hard for them too. They may feel very guilty for leaving colleagues
3. They may well be worried about their own mortality or those of loved ones. Allow these worries
4. They may have experienced relationship breakdown or separation. Be mindful of that
5. Many will be so happy to get back to work! Celebrate with them
6. They are well aware how hard it has been on the frontline - they may feel sad that they couldn’t help. Tell them they helped keep people at home healthy
7. Offer practical support, a quiet space to stay away from others if they need it for example
8. Everyone’s shielding experience will be totally unique. Expect that!
9. Many will have done amazing new projects, learned new skills - they bring a lot back! Celebrate that!
10. They may have had proper time off looking after their own health, caring for someone else or looking after their mental well-being. Professional work may have been ditched. Celebrate that!
That’s it for now. Please contribute if you can think of other ways to support shielding return to work
