So after; dozens of invasion/conquest attempts, murdering Wallace & Queen Mary & the genocides of Cromwell, then the Alien/Succession acts, the Kingdom of England decided to enact union with Scotland so that they could subsidise us permanently.

Got to love colonial history!
The british have no shame when it comes to history.

When it comes to Scotland, they try to deploy 'history' as a means of reinforcing our innate inferiority & self-destructive tendencies. They're virtually silent on the ethnic cleansing perpetrated by the british state.
Other favourites I've heard were 'Scotland was a backwater before union' & 'Scots were always fighting with each other' (Oh, rather than the entirely settled, non-civil war embroiled England?) or that, whilst fighting wars on the continent, the KoE just decided to subsidise Scots
British history is thoroughly anti-Scottish. And it has to be, because if the people of Scotland had a reasonably understanding of the net suffering perpetrated before and during the Empire, they'd know precisely why the union happened, and why the brits 'refuse' to let us leave.
