We, at @newslaundry, have been calling out advertisers who fund hate for months and it's finally showing results.
Awareness is building that even advertiser's should be held responsible for the content they're funding.

We started a series called #BloodlustTV with this piece.
If you see here, even govt is giving ads to this channel which out and out spreads hate on a daily basis. https://www.newslaundry.com/2019/10/28/bloodlust-tv-bigotry-on-suresh-chavhankes-sudarshan-news-sponsored-by-the-taxpayer

Then came Republic TV's attempt to twist the Jamia Shooting incident and spread misinformation.
This one had companies like KENT, Air India, Raymond and more sponsoring the entire segment. https://www.newslaundry.com/2020/02/05/jamia-shooting-know-the-companies-that-brought-you-republic-tvs-misinformation-campaign

In an unrelated incident, @KentROSystems pulled their ad after facing backlash for being insensitive. They even put out a statement.
The hope is that they apply the same standards to their ads in TV channels. https://twitter.com/KentROSystems/status/1265588494316920832?s=19

Here's another one. This is Sudhir Chaudhary's famous 'Jihad Chart' which he stole from a bigoted Facebook page.
Sponsored by @AmityUni, Sensodyne and more! https://www.newslaundry.com/2020/03/13/bloodlust-tv-sudhir-chaudharys-campaign-of-hate-powered-by-sensodyne

This one had Renault as a sponsor.
It got some international attention and Renault was called out by @StopFundingHate, @slpng_giants and others for funding this hatemongering. https://www.newslaundry.com/2020/04/23/who-funded-arnab-goswamis-communal-tirade-over-palghar-lynching

Reports indicate the Renault has quietly pulled their ads due to them being called out.
Let's hope Indian brands are also watching what is happening and understanding the consequences. https://twitter.com/MediaScannerIn/status/1265199500429275136?s=19

Now, companies are blocking Opindia for displaying ads on their website too.
Here's @mubiindia doing what is right.
Check out @StopFundingHate, there are MANY more in there. https://twitter.com/mubiindia/status/1266320788489199617?s=20

Here's a great instance of calling out advertisers for funding hate.
This is key: We all need to be aware and call out advertisers for funding hateful content. They have a responsibility towards their consumers and us citizens.
