A short thread educating those who’d rather focus on yoongi’s sample than focus on protestors out there fighting for their basic human rights (please spread this so this can end and we can focus on what’s important).

Let’s begin from the start. Roll it back to Agust D the first mixtape he released. He sampled a heart breaking song by James Brown which covered the disgusting injustice that has been happening to black people for thousands of years. This was back in 2016.

Second. Hiphop regularly samples outrageous speeches / comments made against black people and minorities. Example:

Lastly: Jim Jones himself the monster that he was, was very anti korean (and anti black ofc) therefore by doing exactly what Kendrick Lamar and Skepta and many other hiphop artists have done yoongi uses it to mock and take back POWER from his sickening words.

Going to end this thread here. I was upset too. I didn’t want to hear the words of a monster in my ears it did make me shiver but I’m sure yoongi is reflecting right now. Now move on from this and donate as much as you can to protestors and the victim’s families. Thank you.
