The UK never properly locked down when we’d become overrun with the virus, most likely because the Govt wanted leeway for upper middle classes to break it with impunity recognising that their selfishness would make them unlikely to do anything for the greater good.

As a result our lockdown has gone on for 10 weeks with poor results, and now they’re easing it “to get the economy going again” which won’t work as a second wave will likely come and scare people out of doing things. Essentially they’ve already started fucking up the recovery

All this because they wanted to wait for the last possible moment, be as laissez faire as possible, and most of all cause the minimum disruption possible to the economy.

Well, as any good people pleaser knows, when you try to please everyone you ruin everything.

This year we needed a government who would do the right thing regardless of the short term. And we have a govt used to only ever dealing with the short term, so that even 4 and a half years out from an election with a massive majority they were too weak and scared to act.

And the worst thing is, there’ll be no reckoning for them. They learned the cheat codes and now they use how much you care against you.
