How to reduce the risk of pay problems
I definitely agree with scanning and archiving everything
I also use a spreadsheet to record each payslip and cross reference this with tax documents
Beware paperless statements only go back ~3 yrs depending on bank, archive these too

Difficult to reduce issues with HMRC at rotation date
Key is to forward P45 ASAP!
As you don& #39;t move on the first of the month you often receive 2 payslips in a month (e.g. August) thus receive tax-free allowance from both employers > underpaying!

What to do when it goes wrong
Agree a timescale - earlier payment (i.e. not next cycle) IS possible, ask for it if needed
Written follow-up to ensure a paper trail
Escalate as appropriate
