The American far right brain can't process the scale of the protests and the participation of white in solidarity ... so they are framed as "Antifa" ... just as striking 20c workers were called "Reds" 1/ I expect Trump will pick this up first thing... but consider the logic...

2/ If Antifascism is the modern proxy for communism, the scale of the right's project is revealed... ending democracy and the rule of law for starters

3/ The danger in this moment is huge - Trump knows he's finished if the November election goes ahead ... so he's wrecking the global order as fast as possible; the right are preparing a quasi-insurgency against Biden...

4/ So the right's script will be different this time: every conspiracy theory is set to merge all the Trumpian "others" - the left, black America, migrants, feminism and China - into a single Big Other pinned on The Democratic Party....

5/5 From a UK perspective, reading Cummings' blog fantasies about the "collapse of China before the West has to engage in warfare with it" (cf Allison) - it's not China that looks like a failed state this morning.
