And this is the problem : the Government is transferring risk to us all by easing lockdown too early. We will all have to process information that we aren't capable of understanding. What risk are we taking? We won't know. https://twitter.com/JeremyFarrar/status/1266470822564200456?s=20
So should we send our son to nursery on Monday? He needs some human input that isn't just his parents. And we could better balance work and family. But what's the risk? Test, trace, isolate is not up and running...
The nursery seems to have a thorough set of processes in place. Though I can see gaps and risks. Are these significant? I just don't know and who is there to verify their processes and assess the risks? Noone. The risk is on us and them.
And sure, children are affected less. As far as we know. But then there's the kawasaki syndrome thing - do you want to be the parent that made that call? The state, the Government, is just not doing its job. And so we all face risks we can't quantify or manage. Negligent.
And I'm afraid that what I see around me doesn't fill me with any confidence. Here in E8 there is no social distancing, no limits on gatherings, only the vulnerable wear masks, there is no enforcement. Lockdown is not easing; it's over. In the lap of the gods and #covid19
The thing is noone is asking for a zero risk world. We just have the right to expect that our Government gives us the information, tools, regulations to manage risk and ensures they are enforced. It is not that we are afraid of risk. It is that Government is failing us. #covid19
