People downtown chanting “Justice for George Floyd”
Huge crowd gathered intersection of 7th & Washington in Eugene burning construction cones, throwing fireworks into the flame, chanting “I can’t breathe” and “Black lives matter.”
Fire burning much hotter, higher now with addition of wood pieces people are throwing on, tires, etc.
A better video of people adding to it. Chants now of “no justice, no peace.”
Flame in downtown Eugene is massive now. Three dumpsters, several dining tables from surrounding restaurants, etc. Too hot to stand even remotely close to.
Flame still burning in downtown Eugene. Here are a few signs from protesters.
People breaking windows out of restaurants on 7th in Eugene. People who were leading chants later screaming at them to stop.
Fireworks set off on 7th.
Protester Clea Ibrahim talks about how things have happened in Eugene tonight, saying she is “sad” about how America is right now.

(Just so everyone knows, I indentified myself as a reporter before filming and made sure I had her consent to share her name.)
EPD showed up for a moment to tell people to clear out but then left. Crowd has largely stuck around but moved further down the street.
Update; looting happened at Starbucks, Sprint. Someone also lit a fire inside the Starbucks but it was put out before it got too big.
What seems to be tear gas being fired off after the protest moved downtown to Willamette St. Eugene police are here & warning people to disperse, or they will put out chemical gas.
*chemical ammunition. Sorry, hard to hear over the crowd.
Me & fellow journos I was with left a bit ago when EPD started pushing the crowd back with tear gas & phones died. I wasn’t working tonight — but as a reporter I couldn’t not share it here. Luckily my colleagues @DuvernayOR & @ChrisPietsch were also there.

Stay safe everyone.
