I want to get a chance to talk about something really important in the black community such as colorism

So, yes I am black. But my skin is light. So that means I have privilege and it’s really important for me to recognize that

I think it’s disgusting how so many people in the black community call dark skin women names. IT IS DISGUSTING. IT IS HORRIBLE and it needs to STOP.

As a light skin woman, I don’t get called the degrading names that dark skin women get called. I think that’s completely disgusting.

I want to share something important. I’ve never shared this before but it has to be talked about

So basicslly my brother and his now ex wife (who is dark skin) were together for a long time but they recently broke up. Anyways, I always used to hear my mom and my grandma on the phone talking about how disgusting she is bc of her skin color. How is this okay?? It’s not AT ALL

My mom and grandma called her names that I will not repeat bc it’s just way too horrible. It’s disgusting how people in the black community can say these things about dark skin women. Their own community. It’s literally so sick and needs to stop

When I heard the words they were saying, I was so sad. This shit really needs to stop in our own community bc we all are beautiful. No matter what shade you are, you are beautiful. You are stunning. You are gorgeous.

I had to say this bc it’s really important. I hope if you’re in the black community and you are dark skin pls know that you are beautiful and don’t let anyone tell u other wise. I love y’all and if you ever need to rant to me I’m always here for u guys I love u
