I was a young adult when the 1992 LA Riots occurred. Many similarities to this situation. Remember gang member "Football" Williams, who beat a man almost to death for fun during those riots? Most violent demonstrators are like him, with no serious ideology or societal goal. 1/
Many people today didn't learn from that. They are erroneously confusing the greedy looters (whose motivation is simply to steal) and criminal arsonists (who just enjoy destroying things and causing mayhem) with actual freedom fighters demonstrating for change. 2/
In fact, many of these delusional folks refuse to acknowledge that there's any element of greed or "destroy things for fun" to this entire mess. They're casting every one of these criminals as good people who are just oppressed, and are fighting back in their own way. 3/
Amazingly, rather than donating to the many worthy charities which help the downtrodden, we have Hollywood stars and top poker pros donating big money to the reprehensible "MN Freedon Fund", which actually pays for bail and legal expenses of those destroying the city! 4/
Rioting and looting is never the answer. It does not bring change. It brings despair to others, including the city itself which ends up as a smoldering heap. It depresses the poor even further. It encourages mass violence & theft as a response to dissatisfaction with society. 5/
The real solution comes not from identity, race-based politics, but common sense. Make it easier to fire bad cops with a bad disciplinary record. Most of the bad cops in the news already have a history of trouble. Most of them should have lost their badge ages ago. 6/
America is outraged by the incident, and almost everyone is of agreement that the death seen on camera was police brutality. You don't need to burn down a city to get people's attention. You already have it. Don't support rioting and looting to show how sensitive you are. 7/7
