I have crazy hazel eyes and white skin.

I am the only light skinned person in my family.

I am Métis.

My brother, father, cousins, etc all look full First Nations (native American)

My father is one of about 600 remaining people who are fluent in our language.

I have lived my life watching first hand what racial oppression and profiling look like as my family lived it.

I have heard racist white folks speak their hate openly in front of me, because they figure it’s safe to.

“aint nobody here but us white folks.”

I just need people to understand double speak exists. Racists do everything they can to appear normal in civilized conversation, and most of them are pretty good at it.

Trust your gut. When someone shows you a bit of their white supremacy, it probably runs really deep.

I’m not comparing the depths of what black people in America are enduring to what I’ve experienced. My whole heart is with them.

This is a statement pointed at that asshole you work with who kinda weirds you out, or that buddy with the off colour comments. Trust your gut.
