alright, a few things:
-if you are filming at a protest, avoid faces. if you get faces, don& #39;t post the footage immediately, there are multiple free face blurring apps on all smartphone platforms, or take it home and do it in your editor of choice
-consider not filming

i spent a lot of time filming protests in 2014, trying to document them, thinking it was helpful. i was wrong: the people who hired me didnt want to do the story right, so i instead ghosted them (didnt get paid ofc, nor should i have been). i wish just protested.
exposure is important, showing people what is going on is important, documenting police abuse is important. but- you also have to understand images are a weapon, in fact one of the most powerful weapons the state has at its disposal. you can wind up as a useful idiot for the feds
further-- and this was, to be clear, something i was *extremely* oblvious about when i was younger, it just makes protestors incredibly uncomfortable, and with good reason! the risks are fucking serious
honestly its a huge factor in why the stop & shop full doc hasnt really fully materialized (yet)-- i dont want to put people at risk for talking about this. there are consequences to this, for people who are already vulnerable. you really gotta be careful. i do too.
anyways, if you insist on it: go and torrent a copy of Premiere Pro, use the Gaussian Blur effect on faces with an oval shaped mask, track it across people& #39;s movement using keyframes. "waah that& #39;s so much work" no shit it is. i dont care https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/how-to/blur-face-masking-tracking.html">https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-...
