i understand that people meant well on instagram, but the whole “tag 10 friends don’t break the chain” story thing doesn’t really serve any purpose or justice for blm. instead, share links, share information, educate one another. this whole situation isn’t a trend.
I’m not sure if this tweet was clear, but it’s more directed towards people who are just posting the chain and that’s their only form of activism. Like I said in the original post, I’m sure the meant good intentions, but at the end of the day, awareness is already being brought-
- up due to the influx of posts. A hashtag without any further information isnt helping anyone. In fact, some people may feel obligated to repost the chain just because their friends tagged them and captioned it “10 people I know who won’t break the chain” I rather have them-
- actually educate themselves on this issue rather than posting a chain without sincerity and knowledge. The original tweet was never meant to bring down the chain, but rather show that’s there’s more beneficial ways of spreading awareness.
