Remember that theft and violence aren& #39;t a crime for everybody. When protestors turn towards the redistribution of property and the destruction of institutions of exploitation, they are criminals. But that has little to do with the crime and much more to do with the perpetrators.
These protestors are the next generation in a centuries-old conflict. Decades after the Civil Rights championed civil disobedience, this nation still fails to provide its most fundamental rights and opportunities to black America. But dramatic action works.
Between 2005 and 2016 there wasn& #39;t a single officer convicted of murder or manslaughter for using deadly force in the line of duty. Officers rarely even see charges because of prosecutorial bias and toxic-loyalty within law enforcement.
But in Minneapolis, it took for days to get charges. It took even less time to get condemnation from inside law enforcement and state/local government. Dramatic actions are the catalysts for dramatic progress.

This is not to say theft is always morally justified.
When Jeff Bezos can steal money, healthcare, and peace of mind from his employees, many of whom are risking their lives so he can pad his wallet with an extra 30 billion dollars. I wonder who the real criminals are?
When Republicans in Congress and the White House can move to steal 7 billion dollars from poor and impoverished children earmarked for healthcare costs to pay for an illegal, irrational, and preposterous "Space Force". I wonder who the real criminals are?
When working people in Los Angeles alone are estimated to have 26.2 million dollars stolen a week via wage theft practices. I wonder who the real criminals are?
And when police in Central New Jersey can steal the right to life from frontline communities. When they can brutalize truly, intrinsically valuable unique people (not replaceable property), and only 1% of cases will ever be investigated. I wonder who the real criminals are?
So yeah, I am not mad at the "looting and rioting" of the last few days. I have no sympathy for the national corporate monolith that is Target. I am pissed it was necessary.
I am pissed we live under a boot of oppression that ignores peaceful pleas for justice. I am pissed protestors had to forcefully take medical supplies to heal and care for their injured. I am pissed protestors in this country would ever even have injured that need looking after.
I am pissed. I am pissed at the people and systems I should be pissed at. I am pissed at the boot on poor people& #39;s, black people& #39;s, and frontline people& #39;s throat. Who are you pissed?
