Some photos from the #GeorgeFloyd vigil at Peninsula Park this evening. Hundreds filled the park to mourn Floyd and others, speak to the crowd and show solidarity with protests around the country. Will soon be marching to Justice Center downtown

At the corner of NE Shaver & MLK, a VW Gold lunged into the crowd. It was pummeled & pursued in reverse down shaver and stopped. After an altercation I couldn’t see, roared south. I heard two loud pops, people ran, then it raced back north through intersection & hit skateboarder

*Golf, obviously. The man who was hit said he was ok. He was hit quite hard

Some sporadic breaking of windows along MLK, vast majority of demonstrators sticking to road, marching and chanting

Crossing Burside bridge now, chanting “no justice no peace”

Got to the justice center, and things started to get more intense

Windows broken, fire set inside, then put out. Police now deploying gas, pepper balls, demanding crowd disperse

Bonfire set on 4th and I think Morrison? Police continue to force crowd north with gas and flashbangs

Crowd has pushed back to burnside. Still a few hundred people I’d estimate. A few are breaking windows and setting up baricades in the street. Someone broke a window and set a fire inside a minimart; others worked to put it out
